MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH

School project 2022

Rooted in prior research exploring masculinity and mental health, this project addresses a critical yet underserved issue: men's mental well-being. With men three to four times more likely to die by suicide, the work investigates how rigid societal expectations of masculinity discourage help-seeking behaviour.

The project targets men across all age groups, from young adults facing identity pressures to older men dealing with isolation, and operates across three formats:

  • · Editorial - uses pink and comic imagery to subvert gender stereotypes;
  • · Digital - a website and social media platform sharing resources, stories, and news;
  • · Print - posters and stickers with the open-ended message "Talking is good. But X is better," inviting personal interpretation;

Together, these outputs aim to break stigma, spark dialogue, and offer practical, diverse routes to mental well-being beyond traditional therapy.
